# // Electronics duo Octothorpe is a project of Nolen Liu & JD Fuller in improvisation, live electronic performance, & collaboration. The duo formed Spring 2023 and first performed their piece eight fields at an E2 Ensemble midterm concert (pictured above). eight fields has the players play a game of tic-tac-toe by calling out improvisational prompts to decide who will go first in the back-and-forth calling of additional free improvisational prompts, based at times on Brian Eno’s Oblique Strategies. Since then, Octothorpe has had several other performances and has decided to develop eight fields into a larger work, with a piece for each improvisational prompt from the original score.
